Malcolm MacKinnon, also known as “Dan Skye,” has been published in over 200 publications worldwide and has interviewed and photographed a wide range of celebrities. He is the former editor-in-chief of HIGH TIMES. In his 25-year career with the magazine, he traveled nearly a million miles in pursuit of stories becoming the most prolific photographer in the magazine’s history. His archive of cannabis photography is unrivaled.
Malcolm has also documented modern Native American life for over 30 years, creating memorable portraits and images. He has interviewed and photographed numerous leaders and covered the case of Native American political prisoner Leonard Peltier extensively prior to his release from prison in February 2025. Behind bars, Leonard became an outstanding painter and has used Malcolm’s photographs to inspire several of his paintings.
His book Pot Shots: The Journey of a HIGH TIMES Photographer, released last year, features over 300 stirring images that chronicle his colorful career and the cannabis movement.
